Garbage collection is hard work, but it’s critical to keep community streets safe and clean.
Meet Khalid, a garbage truck driver in Mukalla, as he drives around his city collecting waste to keep the city clean and clearing a safe passage for his neighbours. “I hope for Mukalla to be a cleaner city, free from disease,” he says. His work is helping over 700,000 Yemenis live a cleaner, healthier and safer life.
Khalid drives one of 25 trucks provided by UNDP – with generous funding from the Government of Japan. – through the Crisis Support for Solid Waste, Water Supply and Sewage Institutions in Aden and Mukalla Cities.
