The Saudi-led military coalition on Monday rejected Yemen separatists' declaration of self-rule over the country's south and demanded "an end to any escalatory actions". International affairs editor, Armen Georgian, says one theory is the United Arab Emirates may have nudged the southern separatists to act, in order to gain leverage at the expense of Saudi Arabia.
