Since the conflict began in Yemen, the already strained energy sector has experienced near collapse, with access to electricity limited for both public and private sectors. In 2019, the Supporting Resilient Livelihoods and Food Security in Yemen Joint Programme (ERRY II) was established to help local communities build resilience and become more self-sustainable. In Abyan; 10 young men received financial and technical support to establish and run a solar micro-grid, extending electricity to local businesses at an affordable price. Thanks to support from the European Union (EU) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), UNDP is helping improve access to sustainable and reliable energy to enhance the delivery of essential services.- Thanks to UNDPYemen
